Personal: Jonathan started speed skating at seven years old after watching Dan Jansen win the gold medal in the 1000 meters in the 1994 winter Olympic Games. He moved to Salt Lake City in 2007 as a part of the United States Olympic Committee’s transitional program from in line speed skating to ice speed skating. In 2010 Jonathan qualified for his first U.S.A. national short track speed skating team, later that he qualified for his first world cup team. 16 months before the 2014 Olympics Jonathan switched from short track speed skating to long track speed. After just 6 weeks Jonathan qualified for the U.S.A. world cup team and subsequently qualified for his first Olympic team in December of 2013.
